WALASSE TING: OIL PAINTINGS

May 2026

In June and at the end of the summer, at the end of August 2026, we will again show an exciting exhibition with the Chinese-American artist, Walasse Ting.

Ting was heavily inspired by pop art and abstract expressionism, but moved into more figurative art inspired by his Chinese roots.

The first time Galerie Birch showed Walasse Ting was in 1960, which always has been quite natural because of his close connections with other Birch artists, e.g. Asger Jorn and Pierre Alechinsky.

Now 66 years later, we are proud to focus on his oil paintings and display a fine collection of his art.

NEW EXHIBITION: CARL HENNING PEDERSEN, ALQUIN, RAKIZO, BENGT LINDSTRÖM, ALBERT BITRAN AND OTHERS

October 2026

In May 2026, we have a new curator at Galerie Birch: Tod Spoerl.

We also have a new inspiring exhibition containing Carl Henning Pedersen, Alquin, Rakiso, Bengt Lindström and Albert Bitran.

Tod Alan Spoerl, moved to Copenhagen from the USA in the nineties, and is trained as an art historian from the University of Copenhagen.

He has more than 20 years of experience in art, culture and architecture.
From curation and sales to art and culture communication, including as a copywriter, guide and lecturer, Tod has worked at several leading museums and galleries, both as an employee and freelancer: Frederiksborg Castle, Thorvaldsens Museum, Øregaard and Cisternerne to name a few.

Tod can, better than most, give you inspiring stories of the artists and the paintings for sale at Galerie Birch.

JAN VOSS: JAN VOSS 90 YEARS

On 9 October 2026, Jan Voss will be 90 years old.
It will be marked at Galerie Birch with a Jan Voss special exhibition.

The basic theme in Voss's painting is order in a chaos of continuity. Jan Voss uses numerous materials and techniques in his works. He works with colour-intensive paintings on canvas and with finer drawings that are reminiscent of comic-like humorous stories and are rich in detail.

Voss also makes wood and paper reliefs and watercolors. All of his works are characterized by an accumulation of different elements of color and shape, which interlock and overlap each other and which are interconnected with signs and lines.

At this exhibition we will exhibit 30 years of paintings from 1962 to 1992. Jan Voss has exhibited his works at Galerie Birch since 1964, and we are incredibly proud to represent Jan Voss.

The final dates will follow in august.

BENGT LINDSTRÖM: FROM DREAM TO CANVAS

In 2025, the international art world marked the centenary of Bengt Lindström’s birth, a milestone that has sparked renewed attention through retrospectives across Scandinavia and Europe.

This spring, Galerie Birch is proud to present a focused exhibition that continues this momentum.

Lindström is celebrated as one of the most powerful voices of Nordic modernism. His work is instantly recognisable with its bold colours and mythological figures, deeply rooted in the landscapes and folklore of northern Sweden and Sámi culture. Influenced by his years in Paris and the post-war European avantgarde, his art bridges Nordic mythology and
international expressionism.

This exhibition presents a carefully curated selection of paintings highlighting Lindström’s distinctive visual language which is as relevant today as when it first emerged. The exhibition at Galerie Birch offers a rare opportunity to experience his work in an intimate gallery setting.

NEW LAUNCH: BIRCH COPENHAGEN...
AN ONLINE GALLERY WITH GREAT ART AT AFFORDABLE PRICES

"At Galerie Birch we have been incredibly privileged! We have represented some of the very best Danish and International modern artists, and we have sold thousands of great pieces of art over the past seventy years.

Since my father, Børge Birch, founded Galerie Birch in 1946, the aim has always been to supply great art to the public and to make art accessible.

However, many of the artists we represent are so appreciated and their art so expensive today, that not everybody can afford it.

At the same time, we have witnessed the digital development and we have realized new opportunities. That's why I am happy to announce the launch an addition to Galerie Birch: 'Birch Copenhagen' and online gallery presenting quality art at affordable prices.", Anette Birch explains.

Birch Copenhagen is available in Danish at the present, at the URL:

Once again Galerie Birch was present at Art Élysées in Paris, the most important annual event for art and design in Europe.

Shown for the first time together, we exhibited paintings by Jan Voss (who lives and works in Paris) with sculptures by Nicolas Alquin, son of Pierre Alechinsky.

If you were unable to join us at Art Élysées, we suggest paying a visit to Art Herning in Denmark in January 2020, where we will also be showing Alquin's monumental sculptures.
