| Corneille collector tells: |

It was in 1968. My wife and I had been to Lousiana and enroute home stopped at Gentofte City Hall to see an exhibit which art dealer Børge Birch had arranged.
While making the rounds at the exhibition we came to a halt in front of an intirely wonderful picture by Corneille, painted in 1963. While we stand in front of the picture by Corneille a little stout gentleman wearing wooden shoes heads towards us and since we have never met Børge Birch earlier, I say, " Perhaps you are Børge Birch". "Indeed it is I. Is there anything which I can help you with?". " Yes , we are looking a little somewhat at this Corneille, but we do not like the frame". "Just a moment", Børge Birch says, and before we can turn around, the picture was taken down from the wall and tossed onto the floor while Børge Birch, with his clogs planted solidly on the frame, pulls out the picture and says, " Here you are it is yours ". " Yes, but Mr. Birch we do not even have enough money to purchase a painting today ". That does not mean anything. Now you just take it along home and send me the money when you get the chance".
We still have that picture and are very, very fond of it. Through the years we have had many unforgetable experiences with Børge Birch also, in our home. As well and a considerable portion of collection of paintings we have today have been bought at Birch's.
