I will never forget our first purchase of a painting. In as much as we have a house with windows from the ceiling to the floor and a magnificent view of nature, we have never lacked or felt the need for paintings. However, having rearranged our living room furniture, we suddenly were faced with a big white wall which demanded, as it were, a painting. An acquaintance recommended that we pay a visit to Galerie Birch. As soon as I came upstairs I saw Børge with this painting. "I want that one", I exclaimed, and, astonished, Børge looked at this curious woman, who needed but a split second in order to know that she liked that picture.
Since then I have been informed whenever Børge recommended something that I did not like immediately, that one has to accustom oneself to art. Naturally, I then hit him with the reminder of my first purchase.
The picture now hangs in another place which we never thought could be used, namely on a red wall above our cellar staircase. Who hung it there while on a ladder standing on the stairs? Børge, of course - at the age of 78 years.
Through the years he has found space for an additional twenty. He was indeed a good businessman and became a good friend as well thru the years. Now and again we visited each other, together with his sweet wife, and even without art having been mentioned.
