Biography

Made his debut in 1962 and was attached the “Ex-School” (The Experimenting Art School) and the “International Bauhaus Situationiste Movement “ with Jørgen Thorsen and Jørgen Nash. In the 1960ties he performed happenings with - amongst others - Paul Gernes. Krøjer became influenced by the Fluxus-art and worked toward Dadaism.

Tom Krøjer, is the restless, forever travelling artist of his generation. His picturesque style is inspired by Pop Art which he twists in a colorful direction with kaleidoscopic rising of the motifs.  The surface literally swarms with signs and symbols. In the beginning these experiments based on serial data systems, from the 1980ties was the systems replaced by a more free picturesque language, always in powerful primary-colours with a poster-like signal value.

The COBRA-Movement´s early influence on Krøjer is - most of all - a influence from Dotremont and Asger Jorns culture-philosophies. Tom Krøjer is a constant reminder of the beauty in the world. Beauty he has found on his many travels around the world, whether it is the green valley’s in Ireland, the mountains in Sierra Nevada, temple gardens in Japan – or the imaginative little details in microorganisms or the star clusters in the Universe, Tom Krøjer is capable like no other, to provide fondness of colours and release energy in the visual conscience.
