Education

As 15 year old he entered a apprenticeship as an potter and continued at the study with art, craftsmanship and design.

 

Biography

Jørgen Haugen Sørensen is one of Denmark’s all time greatest sculptors. Ever since his debut in Charlottenborg’s Spring Exhibition in 1953 as a 19year old, he has made his mark as one of the most important figures in the Danish art scene. With a vast number of exhibitions has he gained great recognition both nationally and abroad.

Jørgen Haugen Sørensen and Børge Birch were very good friends and he functioned as a “travel guide”  when Birch made his huge art journey in 1959 where Asger Jorn had suggested that they meet up with some interesting artists.

Haugen Sørensen has resided in France in over 40 years after self chosen exile.

Jørgen Haugen Sørensen is one of Denmark’s essential sculptors and his artwork is exhibited in important galleries and museums all over the world.
