Biography
Erik Bille Christiansen was from an very early age, inspired by art. His parents were huge art collectors and quite a few artists were regular visitors.
In the age of 19, he met his Dutch wife and in that connection, made contact with baroque art and especially Rembrandt in the “Rijkmuseum”, burnt a mark on his retina.
Erik Bille Christiansen is one of this time greatest baroque painters, with an expressive and sensuous style with dramatic effect. The Greek mythology is one of the big themes and the battle between light & darkness – between the good & evil is common. Inspired by great artists, Delacroix, Asger Jorn or for that matter Rubens, continues Erik Bille the hunt for “the perfect painting” – the dream of the next painting, “the definitive painting”, is his great passion.
